More than a climb!

Our trips involve cultural immersion. In the first 2 days of your trip you’ll get a chance to visit natural hot springs (take a dip!), some schools that we support (give gifts to the kids, teach a class!) and you may even get a chance to encounter the Maasai tribe.

This deep emotional experience before the climb will help you during the expedition.

Did You Know?

We do the Machame Route on Mount Kilimanjaro which is the mountain's most popular and scenic path, widely nicknamed the "Whiskey Route" due to its challenging nature.

Key Statistics

  • Distance: Approximately 62 km (37–38.5 miles) total from gate to gate.

  • Duration: Usually completed in 7 days (though 6 days is possible, 7 days is recommended for better acclimatisation).

  • Elevation Gain: Roughly 16,000 to 17,000 feet.

  • Accommodation: Camping in tents for the entire trek (huts are not used).

Route Characteristics

  • Difficulty: Moderate to challenging, featuring steep trails, rocky sections, and the famous Barranco Wall scramble.

  • Acclimatisation: Follows a great "climb high, sleep low" profile (especially with the Lava Tower crossing), leading to a high summit success rate.

  • Scenery: Passes through diverse landscapes including lush rainforests, moorlands, the Shira Plateau, alpine deserts, and glacial valleys
